WHAT PROCESSES HAVE YOU BEEN USING?
Wax sculpture and modeling have always been the focus of my work, which makes the requirements for taking models from the body more precise. My work combines a careful design and making process with an intuitive making process. After I decided the main direction of my design, I often let the processes and add other auxiliary applications if I think is needed to lead me through the rest of the making.
GIVE US A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF Intimate Touch
Intimate Touch is a collection of hand sculptural objects, it is a continuation and development of artistic narrative jewelry/objects that I have created in the past. My goal is to highlight the traces of human activities through the difference between art and daily life by creating body metal sculptures. In this series, the body is seen as the place where social activities take place, and completed through the understanding of the changed hands and hand postures in the close relationship with the daily using of mobile phones.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS CONCEPT?
I am very inspired by body sculpture jewelry from the 1960s and 1970s. It not only influences the style of my work, but also the methods I use in the design and production process. Interestingly, when I was playing with these body pieces, I found that beside the imitating and repeating function of body sculptures, it also emphasized the significant difference between nature and art. It influences me with the idea of finding the relationship and interaction between daily activities and the body through wearing a body postures. At the same time, I believe that the bodily attributes within jewelry filed still have great potential for expansion in the field of contemporary jewelry.
